Questions & Answers
The experiences are very different, but I can’t say definitively that one is better. I took the in-house role to get more immersed in the “business” side of things. That is exactly what happened and I have had the opportunity to serve not only as a General Counsel, but also as a Director of HR, Risk Manager, and even General Manager of a division of the corporation. I certainly have gotten the additional business exposure I was seeking and that has set me up to be an even better attorney to the clients I serve. On the other side, one of the best parts of private practice is the ability to work with a variety of clients and deal with a wide range of complex issues.
Foremost is my faith and my family. I’m lucky enough to be happily married to my high-school sweetheart, Alyson. We enjoy spending time outdoors – golfing, running, boating, snowshoeing, kayaking. Of course being from Wisconsin we are both avid Brewers and Packers fans and attend as many games as possible. I also love to read and usually have a few books in progress at a time.
